i-STAR Ferro Silicon Nitride

i-STAR FERRO SILICON NITRIDE is a new material designed for refractory applications, primarily used for Tap Hole clay mud refractory manufacturing. It is produced by nitriding a mixture of high-grade metallic alloys.

Synthesized in special reactors under high pressure and at a temperature of about 2000°C, it possesses a unique combination of chemical properties and is grey-white in colour.

Benefits of i-STAR FERRO SILICON NITRIDE for Refractories:

  1. Increases the strength and wear resistance of the Tap Hole clay mud refractory at high temperatures.
  2. Enhances thermal stability and resistance to oxidation.
  3. Reduces the thermal-expansion coefficient while increasing thermal conductivity.
  4. Provides more resistance to abrasion by hot metal and slag.
  5. Does not shrink on repeated heating.
  6. Increases erosion resistance against liquid iron, thus increasing the holding time of the blast furnace.
