Mechanical rubber goods run in hard conditions: load, heat, vibration, chemicals, pressure, repetitive strain.

They fail when reinforcement, hysteresis, dispersion or conductivity are not engineered correctly.

Conventional Carbon Blacks & Application

Industry typically uses reinforcing furnace blacks in the N220/N330 family here because they:

deliver high tensile and tear strength

build modulus for stiffness and support

give decent durability in NR/SBR and blends

Industry Problems with Conventional Grades

  • High hysteresis / heat build-up at dynamic strain → mounts run hot and fatigue earlier.
  • Crack initiation at poorly dispersed agglomerates.
  • Over-stiffening when more black is added for strength.
  • Batch-to-batch inconsistency in modulus and dynamic properties.

ISTAR Solution – SPIREXA® Reinforcing Furnace Black

SPIREXA® is ISTAR’s reinforcing furnace black series, designed as a drop-in but
upgraded alternative to N220/N330-type usage:

Morphology-engineered aggregates for strong reinforcement with lower hysteresis, so mounts run cooler.
Optimised structure density to build modulus without over-stiffening the compound.
Controlled porosity & surface activity for improved filler–polymer interaction and fatigue life.
High cleanliness and dispersion behavior to reduce crack initiation sites.
Result: Mounts and bushings with N330-level strength, but cooler running, longer fatigue life and more stable dynamic modulus.
